The Chairman of Bauchi State Football Association, Mr Patrick Pascal MON has attributed lack of money and interest as the major problem of football development in the north.
The Super Eagles coordinator revealed this while delivering answers to journalists in Nigeria’s WhatsApp football forum, “Let’s Gist Naira” this Monday.
“I must sincerely say that it is money and interest, once you have the two, definitely football will improve”. Pascal said.
“Most of the Governors in the north don’t take it the same way others take football which consumes a lot of money. More reason we’re calling on them to have investors to invest in football”, he concluded.
Pascal is also an ex Nigerian international. Pascal Patrick was part of the Nigeria Olympic team that won gold medal in Atlanta 1996.
Patrick started his career In 1992, Patrick Pascal started his professional career in the Nigerian Premier League now Nigeria Professional Football League for Wikki Tourists. After a year in Bauchi, he moved to Shooting Stars FC. After scoring 43 goals in 103 appearances, he joined Turkish club Gençlerbirliği Ankara in 1996.
There he remained until 18 November 1997 and then signed with Altay Izmir.
He netted 20 goals in 45 appearances to move them out relegation. After the season, In January 2000, he moved to Belgium and signed for Royal Antwerp after a successful trial. In December 2000 Pascal linked up with Lifan in China and retired in 2002.
